We are a Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop at the University of Michigan. Our goal is to create a space on campus for scholarly conversation and action around incarceration. As a Rackham group, funded by the graduate school, we aim to serve as a hub for graduate students, but we also want our events to be open and accessible to scholars and community members beyond the graduate school. The 2018-2019 school year is our first year as a group.
Our team is led by three graduate students: Rachel Cawkwell (English Language and Literature), Elizabeth Tacke (English and Educaiton), and Grace Zanotti (Comparative Literature).
Our formal faculty advisors are Ruby Tapia (English and Women Studies) and Sara Ahbel-Rappe (Classics). We also have a close working partnership with the faculty members of University of Michigan’s Carceral State Project.
